How to Stay Young and HealthyThis is exciting information! New research shows that chiropractic care increases DNA telomere length. Why should this be important to you? Because it can help you stay healthier and younger longer.

Telomeres are protective end caps of each strand of DNA that prevent our chromosomes from becoming damaged. Cells are unable to do their required job if the DNA strand becomes damaged. This can lead to less than optimal and, in many cases, poor healthy cellular turnover and production, which can eventually lead to illness, poor health and premature aging.

The research was conducted by the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation and Chiropractic Biophysics Non-Profit. Vertebral Subluxation leads to nerve interference caused by abnormal position and movement of the spine and spinal vertebra. Chiropractic corrects Veterbral Subluxation and increases nerve coherence and connection.

Dr. Matthew McCoy, a chiropractor, public health researcher and co-author of the study states, "This research is important because telomeres are an essential part of human cells that affect how our cells age." 

"Abnormal spinal alignment, subluxation and (bad) posture are associated with poor general health, physical function, emotional function, social function and back pain," as stated by Douglas Lightstone DC, another author of the study.
